Visa/'TS3' Commercial

I love advertisements that promote both films and a product. Seeing a film's characters in a different environment, telling a brand new (though very brief) story can be a real treat.

That's why I really love the new Visa debit commercial that features your favorite characters from Toy Story 3 (and even the voice of Morgan Freeman!). It's definitely worth a watch, and even a re-watch. See it here.

Vintage Lotso Commercials

I have always been a fan of viral marketing. It adds a whole new dimension to the excitement that leads up to a highly-anticipated movie, and it feels as if you are sharing an inside joke with the director.

The above videos are viral marketing for Toy Story 3 in the form of "vintage" commercials for the Lotso Huggin' Bear from 1983.

Initially, I thought it was an actual vintage toy, but quickly changed my mind. First of all, unlike the other new toys (Chatter Telephone, Ken, etc.), no one has yet to mention the existence of a Lotso Huggin' Bear. Also, the YouTube user MrCrazycommercials has a video that was linked to by Lee Unkrich only three days before the Lotso commercial went live. There is no way that that is a coincidence.

This is awesome viral marketing. It is believable, funny, and gets me excited about Toy Story 3. It is very well-made and convincing; the details, such as the VHS-quality and cheesy 80's music definitely add to the commercial's effect.

The Lotso Huggin' Bear is available for pre-order at DisneyStore.com. Toy Story 3 will come out in theaters on June 18.

Tons of 'Up'!

The #1 movie in America is also one of my favorite films of all time, and definitely of this year: Up! And, seeing as it's so successful, there is a ton of news about it:

/Film has a great article about all of Pixar's amazing and classic easter eggs within Up. It covers A113, the Pizza Planet Truck, characters from future and past Pixar films, and more! Read it now!

Above is a short video of Tom Myers and Michael Semanick, and is all about the sound behind Up.

Partly Cloudy is now available for purchase on iTunes for $1.99. And, although I think it is the worst Pixar short so far, I still enjoy watching it, and I will definitely download it.

Upcoming Pixar has a great review of The Art of Up. I am definitely going to get a copy of it, and you probably will too after reading the review.

From Stitch Kingdom, above is an iPhone commercial that features everyone's favorite 2009 animated film!

On a slightly separate note, here is the first official Toy Story 3 image from Disney!

So, there's all there is to know about Up right now, but I'll keep you up-to-date as new news about the film comes out (awards season, any one?).

The Aflac Duck Goes 'Up'

Here is the new Aflac commercial that is set to show in the U.S. starting May 9. What does this have to do with Disney? Well, the commercial includes Carl Fredricksen, his wife, and more scenes from Up! The commercial features a young Carl and his wife having financial troubles, then moves on to feature more footage about Aflac, its duck, and Up. Enjoy!
