The 62nd Cannes Film Festival committee has chosen the Opening Ceremony film for this year's festival, and they have selected Up!
This is the very first time that an animated movie has been awarded this honor, since the Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals out there. This will be a big boost for Pixar's already stunning reputation.
Hopefully this will make Hollywood treat Up like they treat every other non-animated movie. Perhaps, even, this will give Up the boost it might need to get a Best Picture nomination at next year's Academy Awards and hopefully fair representation at the Annie Awards. Unlike WALL-E's treatment earlier this year... Is that too much to ask?
Anyways, he festival will take place from May 13 through the 24th.
