Listen to the 'Pooh' Soundtrack Now!

Here is a link to the French Disney website, on which you can, for a limited time, stream the entire Winnie-the-Pooh soundtrack!! It is a bit finnicky and takes a bit to load, but it is totally worth it!! When before I thought there was no way for me to become more excited for the movie, they have to go and release an amazing soundtrack like this, which makes me exponentially more excited.

Not only does it include Zooey Deschanel, as I giddily and previously reported, but it also includes the musical stylings of M. Ward (the "Him" in the group She & Him)!! This is such exciting news, I can't even explain how exciting it is . . . I listen to She & Him and M. Ward's solo stuff at least twice a week, usually more. Seeing that they are going to be teaming with Disney on Winnie-the-Pooh is making me, in fact, freak out.

Listen to the soundtrack (which will be available to purchase on July 12) now while you have the chance, and then go and see the sure-to-be-awesome Winnie-the-Pooh this July 15!

The 'TS3' Soundtrack

The Amazon product page for the Toy Story 3 album has just gone live, and reveals a lot. It has a complete track listing, the album cover, and a 30-second sample of each track.

All tracks on the soundtrack are by Randy Newman. All, that is, except for the Spanish version of "You've Got a Friend in Me," which is performed by one of my favorite bands, the Gipsy Kings.

Here's the complete track listing:

  1. We Belong Together
  2. You've Got a Friend in Me (para el Buzz Español)
  3. Cowboy!
  4. Garbage?
  5. Sunnyside
  6. Woody Bails
  7. Come to Papa
  8. Go See Lotso
  9. Bad Buzz
  10. You Got Lucky
  11. Spanish Buzz
  12. What About Daisy?
  13. To The Dump
  14. The Claw
  15. Going Home
  16. So Long
  17. Zu-Zu (Ken's Theme)
The album will be available through Amazon, iTunes, and other online music sellers on Tuesday, June 15, and, unfortunately, will be available in the digital download format only. It will, however, come with a PDF booklet filled with pictures, album credits, song notes, etc.

Very exciting! I am definitely most excited for the Gipsy Kings' rendition of one of my favorite songs, "You've Got a Friend in Me"; it's gonna be great. See the product page for the album here.

Toy Story 3 comes out in theaters on June 18--only 13 days left!

Today is the Day for 'Up'!

Well, we're finally here. Pixar's tenth film is now in theaters. After an exciting press release announcing the title through more rumors and leaked art, an opening at Cannes and merchandising releases, we finally get to see the movie! So, what are you waiting for? Go out and see Up!

Oh, you wanna read more about it first?

Then, first, read my review of Up. It is a comprehensive review of the wonderful film Up, and the somewhat disappointing short Partly Cloudy.

Next, read all about the interesting technologies Pixar had to invent inorder to animate 10,000 balloons in Up (which look spectacular, by the way).

After that, feel free to read all about Jordan, the little boy who does a great job voicing Russell. Also, you might wanna check out Rotten Tomatoes where Up has a 98%! (I'd have given it a 100%, but at least its in the upper nineties.)

Then, why not read some more reviews from tons of different news sites?

NY Daily News
Newark Star-Ledger
Minneapolis Star Tribune
Cinema Blend
Washington Post
LA Times
Seattle Times
E! Online
Miami Herald
Rolling Stone
USA Today
Slate
Philadelphia Inquirer
Boston Globe
MSNBC
New York Magazine

What? You can't possibly want more Up, can you? Oh, fine. Then read this on Apple's game website. It is all about the Up video game with a bunch of screenshots and info.

If you still want more Up, why not download the absolutely perfect soundtrack by Michael Giacchino?

Now, if you still need more Up, I can't help you. All you can do now is hop in the car, and drive over to the closest movie theater. And enjoy the beautiful, hilarious, and sad film made by the best animation studio on the planet: Pixar.

Satisfy Your Thirst for 'Up'

Well folks, we are on the home stretch! Less than one week until Pixar's next movie is released! Up was absolutely phenomenal (read my full review here), but there are still new bits of news regarding it coming out as its release gets nearer. Here is a comprehensive list of links for you to read if you want to stay up-to-date on Up!

Pixar didn't win the most prestigious award from Cannes, the Palme d’Or. However, they did win the most prestigious dog award, the Palm Dog award. Dug is the real reason for the diamante color with "Palm Dog" embroidered on it that was awarded to one of Pixar's own. Dug was up against a Nazi poodle from Tarintino's newest film Inglorious Basterds.

USA Today has a really great new set of Up- and Pixar-related articles and interactive timelines. They are extremely in depth, very interesting and thought-provoking, and packed full of information and colorful pictures. I recommend looking into it. The interactive timeline is here, and the Up article is here.

Here's a brief video of Michael Giacchino, the composer for the scores of The Incredibles and Ratatouille and, of course, Up:

However, even though the announcements regarding the soundtrack of Up have been fantastic, there is some bad news. The Pixar Blog is reporting that there will be no physical CD of the soundtrack, only a digital download. Very sad, especially since it is my favorite Pixar album cover so far.

The projection site for Up is now live. The site is made for projectionists and features information regarding aspect ratios, etc. and everything that you need to know to run Up in a movie theater. But, even more exciting, the site features the phrase "The trailer for Toy Story 3 is supplied as a single separate encode"! Yay! We will get to see the Toy Story 3 teaser before Up!

Above is a short 'Roundtable Preview' all about the A Bug's Life Blu-ray release.

More Toy Story 3 news! Remember that bear on the floor of the room in the Up teaser? The one that will presumably be in the next Pixar flick? Well, it has been 'confirmed' that the bear's name is Lotso, and that he is going to be a villian in the new Toy Story. Although this seems very plausible, remember that we are still in rumor country, seeing as the film is still over a year from its release date.

Here is a fantastic gallery of never-before-seen (unless you've seen the film) stills from Up! See one at the top of the post, one directly above this paragraph, and the rest of them below! Oh, and, if my memory serves me correctly, the first still of the construction worker with the mustache features the character voiced by John Ratzenberger. Also, if you couldn't tell, the fourth photo is from the beginning of the film, and features Carl and Ellie as child

Well, that's all the Up news there is for now! As always, be sure to check out my review if you haven't yet. Or, you could always just wait 5 days and see Up for yourself!

Squirrel! Just 5 days . . .

'Up' Soundtrack Info Announced

Finally! Ever since I attended the pre-screening of Up, I have been constantly 'Googling' its soundtrack. The score of Up was absolutely phenomenal, easily my favorite out of every other one of Pixar's films' scores. The score of Up was very sentimental and moving without being 'in-your-face' or all that distracting from the film. The soundtrack is wonderful.

Well, now the details for that very soundtrack have been announced! It will be released on May 26, just before that actual films' release. This is very odd for Pixar; maybe they got caught up in all of the Cannes excitement, but their soundtracks are usually released weeks or even months before the films are . . .

Here is the track listing (my definite favorite is "Married Life")!

1. Up With Titles
2. We’re In the Club Now
3. Married Life
4. Carl Goes Up
5. 52 Chachki Pickup
6. Paradise Found
7. Walkin’ the House
8. Three Dog Dash
9. Kevin Beak’n
10. Canine Conundrum
11. The Nickel Tour
12. The Explorer Motel
13. Escape from Muntz Mountain
14. Giving Muntz the Bird
15. Stuff We Did
16. Memories Can Weigh You Down
17. The Small Mailman Returns
18. He’s Got the Bird
19. Seizing the Spirit of Adventure
20. It’s Just a House
21. The Ellie Badge
22. Up With End Credits
23. The Spirit of Adventure
24. Carl’s Maiden Voyage (sound effects)
25. Muntz’s Dark Reverie (sound effects)
26. Meet Kevin in the Jungle (sound effects)

Very exciting! Best album cover ever, best soundtrack ever, and, possibly even the best Pixar film ever! I cannot wait to pop that sucker into my computer and hit repeat for weeks after May 26. Visit Amazon's product page! Read my full Up review!

The Awards Season Loves WALL-E Almost as Much as He Loves EVE (Updated)

WALL-E was a truly awesome movie. (Check out my full review here).

Apparently, the rest of Hollywood thinks so, too. Here is a brief list of what recognition, awards and nominations WALL-E has received thus far:
  • WALL-E topped Time Magazine's list of the top 10 movies of 2008, saying that it "still connected with a huge audience. Great science-fiction love stories (there aren't many) will do that. So will futurist adventures that evoke the splendor of the movie past."
  • WALL-E was a part of Roger Ebert's list of the best movies of 2008; he commented that: "The best science-fiction movie in years was an animated family film. WALL-E is a solar-powered trash compacting robot, left behind to clean up the waste after Man flees into orbit. Hugely entertaining, wonderfully well drawn, and, if you think about it, merciless in its critique of a global consumer culture that obsesses on intake and disregards the consequences of output."
  • WALL-E has been nominated for 3 Grammys, which include: Best Score Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media (Thomas Newman); Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media (For the track "Down To Earth" Peter Gabriel & Thomas Newman); Best Instrumental Arrangement (For the track "Define Dancing" Peter Gabriel & Thomas Newman)
  • It also received 8 Annie Award nominations! They are:
  • Best Animated Feature
  • Directing in an Animated Feature Production (Andrew Stanton)
  • Animated Effects (Enrique Vila)
  • Character Animation in a Feature Production (Victor Navone)
  • Production Design in an Animated Feature Production (Ralph Eggleston)
  • Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production (Ronnie Del Carmen)
  • Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production (Ben Burtt)
  • Best Animated Video Game (Heavy Iron Studios/THQ)
  • WALL-E was named one of the top 10 films of the year by the National Board of Review and given the Best Animated Feature award
  • UPDATE: From Variety.com: "The Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. has named Disney/Pixar's "Wall-E" the best picture of the year, marking the first time in its history that it has given its top prize to an animated film." Woo-hoo!
Well that about sums up the total recognition WALL-E has received thus far (other than the fact that they are campaigning for the Oscars). I am glad that eveybody is appreciating the sheer greatness of WALL-E. And I expect this awards season to get even crazier in the weeks to come...
