Kung Fu Panda Review

I just saw Kung Fu Panda, and it is much better than I expected it to be. There were several reasons as to why I expected it to be a failure:
  • They needed an all-star cast to get people into the theater
  • DreamWorks usually has cheesy, terrible pop culture references that are just plain dumb and unnecessary.
  • The plot seemed very bland and common.
In Kung Fu Panda, however, the all-star cast had no positive or negative affects, there were almost no dumb jokes or pop culture references, and, although the plot was very generic and reminds you of hundreds of other movies, they added to it and made it different enough that it worked.

Based on the trailer, I gave Kung Fu Panda a 6 out of 10. Based on the actual movie, I'd give it, surprisingly, a 9 out of 10, which isn't half bad for a movie that Katzenberg was involved in. I recommend that you go see Kung Fu Panda this weekend, but, be sure not to spend all of your money at the movies quite yet, you still need to see WALL-E, Get Smart, and Tropic Thunder!
