Pixar's 25th gets fan art

Planet-Pulp is a new art gallery blog by Jayson Weidel for showcasing awesome fan art. Each month they have a different theme for artists, and this month's theme is Pixar, in honor of the studio's 25th anniversary.

After the jump you will find the ones I liked the best. Or, look at the whole collection here.

Aren't those great?! Too bad they aren't selling prints . . . Or maybe it's a good thing, 'cause I'd be flat broke if they were.

Keep checking Planet-Pulp for awesome, themed fan art. Next month's theme is Saturday Morning TV and the month of May is Star Wars!

My Pixar Pop Art

Here is a gallery of Pixar 'Pop Art' that I created using Photoshop. They are reminiscent of the works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. I like 'em, and thought you might, too.

(Also, they make great desktop and iPhone wallpapers--click to embiggen!)

I hope you liked my gallery. More Pixar (and Disney) Pop Art coming soon...

'Toy Story 3': a Box Office Record Breaker

Toy Story 3 earned a record-breaking $41 million yesterday at the box office, putting it ahead of Up and WALL-E (both earning under $25 million in their first days). This also gives the film a very good chance of beating The Incredibles' opening weekend box office of $70.5 million, Pixar's best to date.

The film is currently playing at over 4,000 theaters across North America.

Will Toy Story 3 be Pixar's biggest opening ever? You'd better believe it.

Pixar in The Wonderful World of Color

Above you will find a very interesting video about Pixar's contributions and involvement with the upcoming light and fountain show, The Wonderful World of Color, coming to Disney's California Adventure this summer. There are some very interesting interviews, as well as very cool clips from the testing done at the actual site of the show.

For some construction pictures of this show and all of Disneyland and DCA, look no further than MiceChat.

Unkrich's Pixar Stuff to Benefit Haiti

Lee Unkrich is helping out the people who are suffering in Haiti by auctioning off his great collection of Pixar things he has accumulated over the years. Each item is being auctioned separately, and they include crew jackets from numerous Pixar films, baseball hats, T-shirts, signed art, and even specially made Monsters, Inc. Jones Soda. I'd like to stress that these charity auctions are being created and handled personally by Lee Unkrich, director of Toy Story 3, and are not being organized by either Pixar or Disney. Also, it is important to note that 100% of the final sale price will go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. There are some real treasures being put up for auction and I would encourage you to take a look at them. After all, it is for a great cause.

Check out The Pixar Blog for more information and a statement made by Lee.

Very cool.

Pixar's Box Office Goes 'Up' [UPDATED]

Not surprisingly, Up is doing wonderfully at the box office. It has already made $21.4 million at the Friday box office, making it Walt Disney Pictures' second best ever opening day for an animated feature (WALL-E still holds number one with just a few million more than Up).

Looking at this makes it almost guaranteed that Up will be the box office champ for this weekend, and may even beat WALL-E's $63.1 million opening weekend. Great! Go Up!

Stay up-to-date on Up's current box office numbers with the Box Office Mojo widget on the right.

Update: Over the weekend, Up easily beat every other movie in theaters, and also beat WALL-E with a cool $68.2 million. This puts Up in 3rd place when it comes to Pixar's opening weekend box offices; it is beat by The Incredibles ($70.4) and Finding Nemo ($70.2).

Way to go Up!!

Pixar Wallpapers Galore [UPDATED]

I was looking for a good collection of Pixar wallpapers, but I couldn't seem to find a decent compilation of all of the great Pixar wallpapers out there. So, I made one. I compiled screenshots from movies, official wallpapers, and got more from various other sources. Some are gigantic, others are tiny; there are ones for any resolution screen or phone. So, for your downloading pleasure, here is a complete collection of Pixar Wallpapers. Update: I will constantly be updating this post with new and exciting wallpapers. They may seem like repeats but some are much larger, or cropped for better wallpapers. Also, some are customly made by me by combining Pixar's concept art. I will always repost it as I add new wallpapers so you don't need to keep finding this post. Enjoy! (Remember to click on the image first. Many have a huge resolution.)
